Peanut Butter Clean-Up Tip & Recipe

peanut-butter-jarI don’t know about you, but I LOVE containers. When I walk into stores with Tupperware or find a Tupperware catalog in my mailbox, I’m unstoppable…. at least unstoppable from dreaming. So instead of spending money on fantastically awesome Tupperware, I’ll often reuse containers like Peanut Butter jars or Juice Bottles.

This weekend I was feeling lazy about cleaning a Peanut Butter jar, in fact, I had left it sitting on the counter for two weeks! So I finally broke down and decided to clean it and this wonderful idea came to me… Why not throw a 1/4 cup of OxyClean in there, fill it up with hot water and let it sit in the sink for a little while?! Well, a little while turned into an overnight miracle!!

While the mess floating at the top of the Peanut Butter jar was quite disgusting to look at, the Peanut Butter had come off all sides of the jar….no scrubbing required!! I dumped that bad boy in the sink, sprayed it out with hot water, and then scrubbed it with soap and a sponge (to get rid of the greasy film).

I couldn’t believe how wasy that was!! OK… so how many of you already knew THAT trick?? I think I’m going to try OxyClean out on some other hard to clean dishes. ha!

I hope you find this Clean-Up Tip inspiring! If so, tell us what it inspired you to do….

Me? It inspired me to clean up the filing cabinet paperwork I have been promising to do for months.  = )

P.S. The reason the peanut butter jar was empty is that  I am constantly making homemade reeses!!  <– Click for Recipe
