Mold Spores Attack: Displaced and Sick
Posted on 08. Nov, 2009 by megadoodle in News

Hello Visitors of Mega-Doodle Inspired!
I hope that you are all doing well and are getting ready for the upcoming holidays! I’d like to say that I am, but that’s just not the case.
I have been missing from this website for a while due to problems at home. My daughter has been getting really sick over and and over again….chronic is the term they use. So we finally paid a Professional Company called AllerGenie to inspect our rental home for mold. Two weeks after the test was performed, we got the results on the morning of Halloween. The results said to close off our daughters bedroom and never go in there and while we’re at it….go ahead and get out of your home until this problem is resolved! OMG! The source of the mold is in the attic of the house and then filtered down into the house. It was an invisible enemy that we had no way of knowing was present!
Within two hours of receiving that report, we were semi-packed and out of our home. We’ve been living in a hotel for the past week as our realtor/landlord tried to figure out the way ahead.
At this point, we’ve been released from our lease and are still living in a hotel. The Mold Specialist recommended that our household items not be removed from the house until the mold issue in the attic had been resolved and the air deemed safe. We’re waiting to see what the landlord decides to do about that situation.
On a good note, we signed paperwork last night to purchase our very first home!! Hopefully that’ll go through and we’ll be out of a hotel within the next two weeks. I’d like to think that would also equal living a normal life again, but until we figure out what’s going on with our household items – I’m still nervous.
We’re taking Megan back to her Allergy Specialist for additional testing. He has read the mold report from AllerGenie and feels that further testing on Megan is necessary. Wish us luck. If the extremely crazy high level of mold spores in the air of our home turns out to be the cause of Megan’s chronic illnesses, then maybe it also means she’ll start getting better soon!!
This crazy life I’m living right now has made it extremely difficult to get anything fun or creative done. I’ll keep you all posted about this mold/housing situation as updates become available. If any of you want more details about the situation, let me know. If you live in the Hampton Road, Virginia area, I totally recommend AllerGenie!!! They have been a blessing!
Take Care!!

Brandy darlin’, I’ve been MIA for quite a long time and am just getting back to my beloved Scrapland and trying to do a bit of catching up with y’all each day.
I am SO sorry to be reading about your experience with mold and hope by the time you are reading my comment, that y’all are settled nicely into your new home and that your daughter is doing MUCH, MUCH better!
I have mentioned to my fiance’ several times in the past that I thought we might have a bit of a problem here in our rental home as we had dealt with a lot of water leakage, unknown to us for a very long time, which, of course, has left a lot of mold throughout the process.
Thank you for sharing your story and I wish you all the best, F.O.R.E.V.E.R!
Love and hugs,
Linda
